Born in Colon, Matanzas, Cuba in 1979, Don Yoyi took up fishing at early in his life. He also studied and perfected the woodworking technique of marquetry. Marquetry is the painstaking process of cutting and shaping thin pieces of wood veneer and forming them into a shape or image.

Leading a team of skilled artisans, each piece is handcrafted using native Cuban woods. No two pieces are the same as this style of woodwork blends the color and grain of the wood with the artist’s eye for creativity.
