The SLT is Bauer's big-game saltwater reel, the result of four years of development and testing. The fully sealed drag uses a stack of alternating stainless steel and carbon discs. It shrugs off salt, sand and mud. Drag increases evenly with every click, with hard stops at the top and bottom so you can't over-tighten it or let it free-spool. Large arbor, quick-change spool, machined in the USA.

Which size?

• 7/8/9: bonefish, redfish and permit on 8–9 wt rods
• 9/10/11: the workhorse for tarpon, snook and permit
• 11/12+: big tarpon and offshore, with up to 15 lb of drag
