The tarpon toad originated with fly shop owner Gary Merriman of Atlanta.  It is a light-weight fly, designed to sink slowly.  It became popular in the Florida Keys during the 1990's and has been a very effective tarpon fly no matter where you fish it.  This toad is tied with a strip of bunny tail, as it was originally designed.
